Whio, fly fly away - 32cm round

Endemic. Iconic. Under threat. The unique whio is most commonly known for it's presence on the New Zealand $10 note, and yet, i've never actually seen one in real life before?

In late summer, whio are flightless, which puts them in more danger than they already are. Hence my attempt to capture them in flight, at their strongest and least vulnerable state.
